As part of the Active Seniors Project, co-funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ programme, a friendly networking event was held on Wednesday, 1 July, at the premises of Alpes Secrétariat in Annemasse, France.

Organised around a cocktail reception, the event brought together a range of stakeholders committed to promoting employment opportunities and supporting people aged 50 and over. It provided an opportunity for participants to meet, exchange ideas, and strengthen cooperation around the challenges and opportunities related to senior employment.

An event open to local stakeholders

The aim of this event was to encourage dialogue and collaboration among the project's partners and stakeholders. The invitation was extended to:

  • the Italian partner of the Active Seniors Project;

  • the trainers who delivered the different training modules;

  • participants who completed the training programme;

  • representatives of local authorities and public institutions, including the City of Annemasse;

  • professionals working in employment, training, and career support;

  • as well as anyone interested in the challenges and opportunities related to the employment of people aged 50 and over.

By bringing together participants from a wide range of backgrounds, the event created a valuable space for dialogue where everyone could share their experiences, expertise, and perspectives on the challenges faced by older adults in their professional journeys.

Sharing experiences and good practices

Beyond its friendly and informal atmosphere, the event was fully aligned with the objectives of the project. Discussions focused on the realities of returning to work after the age of 50, the challenges older job seekers face, and the solutions and initiatives developed by stakeholders across the region to support them.

The project partners presented the activities carried out as part of the Active Seniors Project in both France and Italy, the training programmes delivered to participants, and the initial feedback collected throughout the project. These presentations opened the door to meaningful discussions with the professionals in attendance and enriched the exchange by drawing on the practical experience and expertise of all participants.

Building a network of committed stakeholders

This networking event also gave participants the opportunity to expand their professional networks, establish new connections, and explore opportunities for future collaboration.

The informal setting of the cocktail reception encouraged open discussions, the sharing of ideas and good practices, the development of new partnerships, and the promotion of local initiatives that support the professional inclusion of people aged 50 and over.

Through this event, the Active Seniors Project reaffirmed its commitment to bringing together local stakeholders around a shared objective: supporting people aged 50 and over in developing their skills, facilitating their return to employment, and encouraging their involvement in new professional, entrepreneurial, and civic initiatives.
